A moment of appreciation

For the past several days i have been wondering about what i should write in this blog. I seem to have fallen into the pattern of not writing very often, but when i do i pretty much say all that there is to say for the time being. This makes it hard for me to keep up a consistent stream of posts, and i really need to be posting almost every day. (it gives me something to do while I'm spending long days at work.) So i have decided to start having opinions about things. It may seem kind of silly, but it will give me something to post about besides the basic everyday things.

So here goes. Ahem.

I would like to take a moment today to ponder upon the deliciousness that is Cheetos. Although it may seem strange to reflect on these small, cheesy puffs of goodness; i believe that they deserve a little praise.

Cheetos are my kryptonite. I know, its amazing. But i have a weakness for them that i can't completely explain. All i know is that they have proven to be a consistent rainy day friend; always there when i am distraught, elated, or (and this is the case most of the time) famished.

Maybe my fascination with them stems from the fact that they are the only sustenance i have had all day. Or that the vending machine accidentally vended me TWO whole bags of them and i took it as a sign. I don't know. But if i thought it would sell, i would write a book entitled Cheetos:a love story. It could explain the complex feelings between and lonely girl and the new kid in town, Chester Cheetah. Seriously. It would rock. Maybe.

Blogligence

Its sad when you are so bored at work that your last resort to keep yourself sane is to pick back up on your blog again. But here i am, and here i will probably stay for a good majority of the summer.

It has been quite a while since i last wrote, but in my defence there has been quite a lot going on. Lance and i got engaged April 17th. Happiest day of my life so far. :) Two weeks later he left to go sell Living Scriptures for the summer. It's been hard to have him away, but i suppose it is for the best in the end. He gets to escape all of the crazy wedding planning and pshyco woman horomones. :) We have the date set for August 28th so i have a bit of time left.

Wedding plans have been coming along really well. We have taken engagements, reserved a reception center, found someone who will do my cupcake teir, bought a dress and arranged for all the bridesmaids dresses. So i am feeling pretty good about things. Now just to get all the little details done and invitations. Those are my next projects.

My mom and i are also going on a trip this summer. I am very very excited for it. July 14th we will be on a plane and headed for Ireland!!! YAY! We have all of the big things done like places to sleep each night and how we are going to get from one place to the next. It is going to be awesome. :) Lots and lots of picutres will be coming of that trip. We will be gone for almost three full weeks, it is going to rock. :)

Anyway, that is pretty much what is happening right now in my life. Lots of fun and happy things. To close this post, here are some of the engagements picutres Lance and I took. Enjoy!

Harry Potter came to BYU

As i sit here at work, drowning myself in club crackers and copious amounts of chocolate, i feel that i should explain my situation to the world. Today really didn't start out the way that i wanted it to. It did make for a humorous morning though. I woke up this morning slightly dazed by the sound of cars quickly leaving my house. I looked at the clock and low and behold, i had a half an hour before i had to leave to school. I had been up late last night finishing a huge paper that i had due today, and i had forgotten to set my alarm. Frantically i surged out of bed and into the bathroom. As i hopped in the shower, i felt that something was amiss. Never mind. I was in a hurry. It wasn't until i got to washing my feet that i registered what was wrong. I still had my socks on. Great. I love my life. :)

On to explaining the title of my post though. :) I know that there are many "potter impersonators" out there but i swear that i met the real deal today. Or at least he thought he was the real deal. He came into my Human Development class and sat next to me about five minutes before class started. He then engaged me in conversation, and we discussed how he came to be at BYU. He said that he was visiting his "muggle" cousin and had an hour before meeting him so he decided to sit in on a "muggle" class. No joke. Needless to say, i was stunned into silence. What do you say to these people? I was half afraid he would pull out a gnarly tree branch and cast a spell on me if i said anything he didn't like.

So,I did the only thing that i could think of to do. I smiled politely and pretended to have an urgent need for something in the bottom of my backpack. As i struggled to re-arrange my things for the third time, and started to wonder how long i could pull this off without it becoming obvious, a poor, friendly soul came and sat on "Mr. Potters" other side. Score!! While he talked to her for the rest of class i eavesdropped on their conversation. It was quite entertaining and i relished in the awkward feeling of the poor individual who was subjected to his many stories. By the end of the first half an hour i was very familiar with his past. Much of it was just as J.K. Rowling had written in her "biography" of him. He did throw in a few twists of his own to liven things up.

To be quite honest, i had this strange urging to pull out my pencil and quietly whisper some spell while waiving it at his face. But good sense took over and i resisted the urge to tease him. He probably would have attacked me. In fact, given his mentality i am almost positive. I spent the next 45 minutes or so imagining the awesome scenarios of him jumping up and challenging me to a duel. Most of them ended with us dueling up and down the isles and me calling for the aid of Lord Voldemort, just to freak him out.

What a weird day. But it has been quite enjoyable. To finish off this post, here is are some pictures of lance and i taken at the mall in a photo booth. :) They are fun.

Picture Appearus!!!! (I couldn't help it...:D)

I'm not very good at this blogging thing...

I sincerely apologise for not keeping up with my blog. Not that there are many people following it, but just the same, i should do better. Here is one more re-cap of some of the things that have been going on in my life.

About a month or two ago, Lance and some of his buddies decided that they wanted to do the 1 pound challenge at Fudruckers. Sadly, the one here in Orem doesn't do it anymore. However, they were not deterred and four out of the group decided to try to eat one anyway. I of course was there in case the need arose for a designated driver, and also to document the experience. Fortunately my services as driver were not needed. I did however preserve these images for posterity's sake.

Those are quite the burgers, i know. :) David also had his 13th birthday this month. I struggled for a while trying to decided what to get him, and what i would be allowed to get him. I called him on the phone to ask what he might like for his birthday and he promptly tried to talk me into getting him a snowboard. That seemed a little out of my price range, but he didn't seem all that concerned about my financial situation. When i talked to my dad later about the possibility of going in on one for him, i received a strangled laugh and a firm "No." I had been suckered by the best sweet talker in the family. I should have known better than to ever think that my dad would have said yes to that. Foolish Jen. So it was back to trying to decide what a 13 year-old boy could want, and what he would be allowed to have. I finally came up with a mini MP3 player, and some cologne. The cologne was a stretch i will admit, but i was desperate. Lance split the cost of the MP3 with me and Kayla went in half with me for the cologne. I don't know, but i think he was at least a little happy with the gifts....

Here are some other pictures of that night as well. :)

First blog post EVER!!

OK, so maybe it sounds dumb, but this is my first time ever writing on a blog. And to be quite honest, I'm not really sure what to write about. So forgive me if i tend to ramble. This is kind of intimidating.

Last semester went really well. I did decently in all of my classes for which i am grateful. I am still working two jobs. One at the police department on campus, and the other at the Hale Center Theatre. I enjoy both jobs emensly, even if they do take up a good portion of my time. The other portion of my time is beeing spent with my wonderful boyfriend, Lance, and doing homework.

Lance and i have recently discovered the TV show 24. I have to admit that i find it incredibly entertaining. Its a good thing that we keep the seasons at Lance's apartment, because i can garentee that i would get nothing else done. The series Bones has also become a major source of stress relief, and is actually quite motivating. Its my reward if i finish my homework, or do well in a class, or make my bed, or do laundry.... Needless to say, it is a good show.

My recent membership to Golds Gym has been really nice. Susan, a girl i work with, and i have been going together. We atteneded the "Zumba" class that they hold there. It is a really fun class. I think we might try to go to the kickboxing class and maybe yoga later on.

Other than that, i can't think of much else that is new in my life. :) Here are some pictures of things that have been going on over the summer and school year. Enjoy!
